Challenge Day 1: Hidden Word

Day 1 of the 2025 One With Them Challenge!

Welcome to day 1 of the 2025 One With Them Challenge.

In some parts of the world, following Jesus means being isolated and held captive in your own home. That’s what happened to Tara, a Christian woman in Nepal.

When Tara began following Jesus, her husband grew furious. He beat her, destroyed her Bible, and demanded she stop attending church. But Tara refused to let go of her faith.

Eventually, her husband and in-laws locked her in her own home, isolating her from meeting or contacting other believers. She is kept isolated and essentially captive within her own home, watched closely by those who want to suppress her faith.

They didn’t just try to silence her faith, they took her Bible and hid it from her. Now, with no Scripture in her home, Tara must rely on the verses she has hidden in her heart.

For Tara, God’s Word is not just a book, it’s her lifeline.

In many parts of the world, Christians are kept under house arrest. Some are monitored constantly. Others, like Tara, are isolated in their own homes and cut off from the Church. Their access to Scripture is restricted or even removed entirely.

Today's Challenge

As an act of solidarity with Tara and others like her, today’s challenge is to memorize a short passage of Scripture. You can choose your own, but here are a few suggestions:

Psalm 119:11
Hebrews 10: 32-35
Matthew 5:10-12

Once you’ve chosen your passage, repeat it throughout the day. Write it down. Say it out loud. Hide it in your heart, just like Tara.

Pray

Take some time today to pray for Christians, like Tara, who are captives in their own homes because of their faith. Ask God to sustain them with His presence and to bring them strength through His Word, whether in their hands or hidden in their hearts.
