Welcome to day 6 of the 2026 One With Them Challenge.
Being forced into captivity is one of the enemies’ tactics to try and squash the growth of the church. Logically, it makes sense: If believers are imprisoned or held captive, they can’t continue to tell others about Jesus and the church can’t grow.
But that’s just not the case.
Time and again, we see believers who are imprisoned for their faith use that opportunity to share with others.
Subhash* came to faith in Jesus when his father was healed. So he began to pray for healing for others. People started coming to ask for prayer and before long he was holding packed out prayer meetings.
All this attention angered some locals and false charges were brought against him and he was imprisoned. Locked in his cell, he was pretty angry, but he remembered other stories of prisoners sharing their faith, so he started to pray and things began to change.
“God used me inside the prison. I shared the gospel with twelve other inmates. Eleven of them believed, so I taught them to pray.”
Even prison couldn’t stop Subhash from sharing the gospel.
Today's Challenge
Even those in prison find the freedom to tell others about Jesus, so today’s challenge is to use your freedom to share your faith. Subhash began sharing his faith by praying for others, and perhaps that is how you want to start.
When we use our freedom to share our faith, we honour those who share their faith at great risk to themselves.
Pray
Pray that persecution, whether captivity, or other forms of persecution won’t stop the church from telling others the good news.
